I've been running for 20 years (CRAZY) and I vividly remember the first time I ran more than 5 miles - I was 15. Since then, I have run over 50 races and have run the Boston Marathon twice. (And when I started running, I never imagined I'd be fast enough to qualify. Not even close. I cut over 45 minutes off my first marathon time!)
